Friends, I could not feel more honored to have photographed Mike and Caitlin’s wedding. Mike and I have worked together for the past couple of years at Kentwood Community Church. Sprinkled throughout our gatherings, he would mention small little details about this really sweet girl he was getting to know, Caitlin. He told us about how the two of them accidentally met at a local coffee shop and hit it off right away. I also remember him saying quite often that “this is really such a God thing”.
Both Mike and Caitlin collectively have five children and throughout the two of them dating, they would support one another while parenting through difficult situations and Mike even allowed us to pray over Caitlin’s son when he was going through a challenging time. Since they started dating, it’s always been pretty clear that the two of them were really meant to do life together.
Mike and Caitlin are joyful, patient, caring, love their kids, and LOVE each other. So, of course, when they got engaged, we were all absolutely ecstatic. Mike even involved their kids in the proposal during a family beach day. So sweet! One of my favorite things Mike told us about was all the kid’s excitement about being brothers and sisters as well as sharing a home.
Their new family, of course, also played a huge part in their wedding day. The little girls looked at Caitlin with such big bright eyes as they watched her get her wedding dress on. It was such a precious moment. Even during Mike and Caitlin’s first look, it was nearly impossible to allow the two of them to have a somewhat private moment. All the kids sat just around the corner watching intently as their new mom and dad shared their first look and first kiss as bride and groom. Every bit of Mike and Caitlin’s wedding day included their children and they were so intentional about making it about the WHOLE family. Vows to the kids included.
Mike and Caitlin, the two of you are such a sweet and loving couple. Your care for both your children and each other showed so brilliantly on your wedding day. Thank you so much for allowing me to help capture all these precious moments for the two of you. I’m so excited for this new chapter in your life. You two are already awesome parents and I look forward to seeing how much more of a power couple you become.
