To my parents,
It brings me such joy and honor to have captured your “golden” wedding anniversary portraits during sunset this past week. You’re completely glowing in every one of these images. As I was going through your portraits, my heart was filled to the brim with gratefulness for the two of you. So, if you don’t mind, I’m going to get a little sappy. (:
Today marks your 27th wedding anniversary. Twenty-seven years of devotion to one another.
When I think about all the years I’ve observed the two of you, I’m reminded of all the laughs you’ve shared together, the tough conversations you’ve handled with maturity, and the daily dedication to serve one another. In my eyes, your marriage hasn’t been about the number of years you “made it” together, but about the practice of consistent dedication to one another. The two of you have exemplified an unwavering foundation and a sacrificial love.
As family, I’ve seen you deal with job losses, annoying backyard neighbors (B.W., you know who you are), car breakdowns (you will be missed, Big Red!), and how you’ve raised all of your children. With a grateful heart, I can honestly say that you’ve handled all these situations with such grace and a humble spirit. I personally hold the two of you with such high respect because of the humility, honesty, and loyalty you’ve instilled in me through your actions.
I am so honored to have the two of you as my parents, teachers, and mentors. You have earned so much respect throughout your 27 years of marriage because of your constant example of what marriage and family should look like. With confidence, I know that all three of your children will have successful adult lives because you took every opportunity you could to ensure that we were raised to take life head on. Thank you for leading by example and encouraging those in your life to treasure everything that is admirable, lovely, pure, and not self-seeking.
Enjoy celebrating and cherishing one another today. You deserve every bit of happiness.
With love,
Ellen

A little backstory here.. they were laughing SO hard because Allison whacked Mike in the face all to try and kill a fly.
Their barn kitty, Rusty, followed us around all night trying to get attention too!
How SWEET!!
How GORGEOUS is she?!
27 years of marriage and they’re still as romantic as ever. <3
They hold themselves with so much beauty and grace. <3
